Journey to the Grizzly Bears

Summer Camp Reflection by Camp Director Maddy Smith
On our camp trip to the zoo, I was in a group with two 7-year-old girls who really wanted to see the grizzly bears at the other end of the zoo. We walked and walked in the heat and humidity, and finally got to the bears, exhausted from our trek. The girls were very excited to get there, but I was already worried about the walk back.At our second rest stop on the trip back, we were all visibly tired and thirsty, wondering aloud if we would ever make it. One of the girls suggested we pray to Jesus to ask for help, and her friend liked the idea so much she offered to pray. There was a change in all of our attitudes after this special moment. The walk was still difficult, but we made it by encouraging each other. I was reminded by these 7-year-olds that God is always at hand to help us through any circumstance.
