We want to extend a BIG thank you to all those who attended Ignite! It was a wonderful evening! Those who attended were encouraged by the stories of hope that they heard from TCM participants…from Summer Day Camp children to Year Long Interns. We are pleased to say that you helped us raise $56,000.

Thank you to everyone who “Spiked Back Against Poverty” with Toronto City Mission on February 17th! You raised a total of $17,500, enough to sponsor 250 kids for day camp.

We would like to give special recognition to our top fundraisers and tournament winners. Drumroll please…

The top individual fundraiser was Jaqueline Leung, who raised a total of $1,100.

The top team fundraiser was team “Awesome”, who collectively raised $1,970.

The Tournament Winners:
1st place – Forest Brook
2nd place – Shake ‘n Bake
3rd place – Turkstra and Reaves

Adopt-A-Family

Thank you to all our sponsors, we were able to support all 172 families (574 individuals)! Thanks you for making a difference in your community!

Overview of the program: For $70 per family member, you can sponsor a specific family through Toronto City Mission. Every family will receive a board game, a box of chocolates and grocery gift certificates (equivalent to $50 per family member). In addition, families are invited to participate in community Christmas celebrations.

Thank you for supporting our Dinner & Dessert nite. With your support we raised over $1300 to rent a bus for the St. James Town teens to go on a March Break retreat.

Urban Covenant’s Launch Event

Toronto City Mission is excited to be one of Urban Covenants Partner Agencies! It is our honour to introduce Urban Covenant’s Launch Event on November 5th, 2011 at 7:00pm. It is a FREE night of music and celebration. The event will be held at Global Kingdom Ministries at 1250 Markham Road, Scarborough, ON.

Hiram Joseph, Executive VP of Urban Covenant, along with some of his most gifted friends are coming together to raise awareness of the social and gospel needs of the Greater Toronto Area. Mark your calendars and be sure to join us for a night you won’t want to miss.

A love offering will be taken and proceeds of the event will benefit Urban Covenant’s Partner Agencies: Yonge St. Mission, Toronto City Mission, Matthew House, The Jesus Network, and The Scott Mission.

One City One Song

Thank you to all those who attended and sponsored…One City One Song

Through this exciting evening, which featured a compilation of artists showcasing Toronto’s diverse population and culture, we raised over $30,000!

Two bright stars from the concert were the emcees Ricki and Elaine (two of the youth from St James Town). Elliott (our senior program coordinator) describes the impact that we are able to have over time:

As I witnessed Elaine and Ricky lead us through the “One City One Song” concert program, I must say that I was filled with great pride. They did such a wonderful job! I felt like a proud father! I was reminded how much they had grown over the years. Both Ricky and Elaine have overcome some difficult circumstances to reach where they are now. Elita and I (TCM) take some credit for their tremendous growth, but I’m convinced that without hard work on their part, they would not be close to where they are today. I see such terrific futures for both of them! It is somewhat sobering to realize that they now need to “fly on their own.” We have loved them, supported them, valued them, and taught Christ to them. And they have responded remarkably to our efforts. This fall, they will both be beginning the next stage of their lives, University! I suspect that they will now play a reduced role in the life of TCM, but I also know that we have prepared them well for life after high school. I am excited that in a year’s time, they (along with a couple of other 12^th graders) will be the first young people that we hire as summer interns. Yes, these are young folks that have grown in up our programs/communities and are now ready to give back as summer interns. Over the past couple of months they have both inquired about the summer intern program. I know that we have made a significant impact in Elaine and Ricky’s lives!
