Where Love and Justice Meet

It is clear that God is at work here at Kingston-Galloway. From week one of camp until now, I have seen the hearts of the campers change towards reflecting God’s love to each other and the staff. This has helped us all grow in relationship with one another, which is essential when it comes to the (tough) moments of discipline. I have also seen God at work through providing them with experiences that they otherwise would not have been able to enjoy due to financial circumstances. My group of campers had such a great time at the Ontario Science Center, which was only possible through the provision of God.

My faith has expanded so much since the beginning of my internship. On day one of training, truthfully, I was having a rough day because I wasn’t completely sure why God called me here. Now that I have been with the campers, I cannot imagine leaving them after the end of my internship! God has shown me how much love I have for these children, and the justice I want to help them receive. For example, many of our kids are learning how to swim this summer and God is showing me how this is His justice for them.

The bible lessons we have been teaching the children have shown them how to trust God. It is a timely lesson for our campers because many of them are experiencing sickness or death in their families, and they hold on to the promises of God when they are feeling the weight of life. One of our campers is new to church, and this camper started out as questioning why David trusted God instead of killing Saul. But now, this camper is retaining our bible lessons and we can see their interest in God’s morality and character growing.

I have experienced the power of prayer throughout this summer! I hold on to the fact that there are people supporting me when it feels like I am facing a tough situation alone. We are grateful for the many people who have partnered with us through prayer and finances, they have carried us through daily.
