WHAT IS SPARK | Purposeful giving?
Spark is a community of supporters who engage with Toronto City Mission on a regular basis. Through prayer, volunteering, and financial gifts, we can build a sustainable foundation to bring hope to children and families impacted by poverty. Learn more about Spark | Purposeful Giving.
Why is Spark Important?
We rely almost entirely on the generosity of supporters like you to help with the preventative and transformational work that is done through Toronto City Mission. In Toronto, many families are living in poverty, not only physical, but more importantly, spiritual poverty. We have developed programs that through God’s transformational power, allow us to build relationships with children and families to share the hope we have in Christ.
What is a Spark Ambassador?
A Spark Ambassador is a person who engages with TCM on a regular basis and wants to share with others about what TCM does and encourages others to get involved as a Spark.
WHAT IS YOUR STORY?
Make it personal. Share your story about why being a Spark is important to you, to your city, and to God.
Example: Peter Hosts a Softball Tournament
Peter Shearer, a former summer intern, organized Strike Out Poverty, a softball tournament in 2017 with over 50 participants raising almost $2500.
“I have a passion for Christian ministry and softball; so I combined both passions, leveraged my connections in the softball community, and organized a tournament to support the great work that TCM does. I have seen the impact their programs have transforming the lives of children and families impacted by poverty, so I wanted to do my part and take steps to Strike Out Poverty!”
Example: Neil and Brenda Pray, Volunteer, and Give
For Neil and Brenda Hodgson, being a Spark has been an important part of their faith journey. Over ten years ago, a friend shared with Neil and Brenda about Toronto City Mission and the work being done in the city. The impact of the programs and the value they build into the children and families is why they have continued to support TCM through the years and encourage others to get involved through prayer, volunteering, or giving financially. Neil currently sits on the board of directors.
“We all need the opportunities to engage in positive activities and to and hope through love of God. It is a privilege to give ongoing encouragement and support to Toronto City Mission and in return we are fulfilled knowing that we are being obedient to God”
