A Season of Growth and Blessings

Going into this time of camp truly feels different going into it a second time as I can focus less on the planning aspects of the internship and focus on building connections with the kids, while also building habits and working on useful skills for myself.

Yesterday and Today and Forever

Even my whole time in Canada is coming to an end. And that means I have to start to say goodbye to people which became pretty important to me (But I will not leave without saying how grateful and thankful I am for my time with TCM. It was such a pleasure and blessing to work and serve our God with TCM together.) Now that my time to leave is getting closer and closer, I´m getting more anxious about returning.

Kingdom of God

The theme of this year's summer camp is the Kingdom of God. During the preparation of my bible lesson for our kids, I studied different parables about the Kingdom of God. One that particularly stood out to me was the parable of the mustard seed. I love this parable because it reminded me once again that we are planting seeds in the hearts of the  TCM children so that God can grow them in their faith.

Who is Jesus?

This semester, we are exploring the book of Mark with our youth and trying to delve into the question of "Who is Jesus?" From what they know, they mentioned he was the Son of God, a friend, the person who died and rose again, someone who performed miracles, and a teacher.

The Desires of the Heart

As 2022 ended, I reflected upon all the incredible things God showed me in the past year. I learned that Sonshine Day Camp is my absolute favourite season, He reminded me that I love teaching the kids the Bible, and He even pointed out that I need to be better in the kitchen through our cooking activities.

God Will Strengthen You

When I was a child, this story was read to me once and it has accompanied me on my journey through life ever since. Even though it is not a story from the Bible, it perfectly illustrates that God is journeying with us, no matter what life situation we find ourselves in.

I have been with Toronto City Mission (TCM) for 4 months and have been helping at the Kingston-Galloway and Jesse Ketchum locations. During my time at TCM, I have been holding on to this Bible verse where Jesus tells us we should trust God and that nothing should shake our faith.

Finding Purpose in Hope

This fall when I learned about TCM, I realized God had already made its ministry very personal to me. I had struggled with feelings of hopelessness for a long time, I wanted to give up on life, but during this mission trip those thoughts departed and I thanked God for saving my life.

God Promises to be with You

As we follow the story of Moses, we learn of the different ways God continues to be with Moses and the Isrealites. He protects them from harm as they leave Egypt by parting the Red Sea so that they could get away from Pharaoh (Exodus 14).

Does God Answer Prayers?

All of this is to say, in humility I am not God. You are not God. We are not God. God is Sovereign and we are not. Behind the yeses, the noes, and that waits of our own personal prayers, God is at work, but also orchestrating something behind the scenes for someone else.

Yet Not I

To make a covenant would mean to make a promise that tied you and another’s mortality to the survival of both of your integrity; this is the extremity and gravity to the covenant-making process shown to us in the Old Testament. The covenant God makes with Abram has always been my favourite.

God is Faithful

This summer we were blessed to host 7 weeks of Sonshine Day Camp in the Flemingdon Park, Kingston-Galloway and Jesse Ketchum communities. God answered our prayers by calling 13 individuals to serve as interns this summer which enabled us to welcome more kids to camp.
