Peace and Joy
By Eliot, Outreach Worker in Willowtree
The past few weeks have been really eventful and awesome, but at the same time I felt many instances of stress and chaos in programs and in my personal life as well. When meeting with fellow peers, the topic of spiritual rest and peace came up quite a bit. I realized that in the midst of chaos and stress, I needed to come back to God and lift up all my burdens to Him instead of trying to handle everything on my own. I really thank God for always being there for me, but also for providing me with support from friends and family. Despite the busyness of the festive season coming up, it was a good reminder that the true source of peace and joy is God.
Reflecting on this, we entered into Christmas mode and had our Gift of Christmas celebration last week. It is always a great time to enjoy a meal and spend time with the kids and their families. This year, the dinner was hosted at Wellspring Worship Centre, where one of our families voluntarily cooked enough fried chicken and turkey to feed over 100 people. With the commotion of excited kids, eager volunteers, and joyful parents, I was able to look past all the little details of how the celebration was going to run and recognize how God has been so faithful to us by providing a great community of believers to come alongside our ministry in Willowtree. My hope and prayers for this time of year is for parents and children to experience Joy through Christ.
