Christian Community
By Dorothy, Manager of Partnerships
At Toronto City Mission, we recognize that as much as we teach Bible truths, share God’s love, and instill biblical values in our relationships, we are not a church. It is important that we build connections with local churches so that we can plug the children, youth and families into a Christian community that will last beyond what we can offer here at TCM.
We have seen how the witness of a local church can draw people into community:
In Victoria Village, we have been blessed with a partnership with Wilmar Heights Baptist Church. The pastor and staff often come to greet our moms and encourage them with prayers. These acts of kindness and through Bible study with the Role Model Mom’s teacher these moms have developed an interest in the church and have started attending worship at Wilmar Heights Baptist Church.
In St. James Town, we have seen brothers and sisters from City on a Hill (St. James Town campus) start a youth group ReCharge and through those relationships many of the teens have started attending the Sunday service too.
We pray for more churches that will open their doors to become spiritual homes for the families we serve.
