A God Centred Community Blesses
By Carmen Tan, Admin and Communications Intern
The month of June, it is always exciting for Toronto City Mission (TCM) because the office gets loud and busy. The summer interns tend to fill the room with laughter as we grow in unity and with excitement to start serving in the communities.
Recently, God has reminded me no matter how much works you do in a community, if at the end of the day, there is no prayer and faith, it does not matter. I’m reminded that when doing ministry, the most important thing is to pray. To pray for the people you are serving, to pray for your own spiritual walk and to pray that the Holy Spirit will move in the place.
No matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, remember to pray.
6 Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. 7 And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
As the interns plans for camp, planning all the activities and the games can be exciting. But I am reminded that everything we do must be God-centred. We must be able to exhibit God’s character and His truth through our games, bible stories, and our interactions with the kids.
Then, that will be a start for us to bless those around us through God’s love and grace.
Carmen is an intern that has served at TCM for 3 years as a summer intern. As an admin and communication intern, she’s responsible for gathering data from the different community sites, coordinate the TCM Blog, and write stories for social media. Throughout the summer, interns from all sites will have the opportunity to share stories and their thoughts about urban ministry. Stay tuned!
