The Greatest Story
By Nadia Kim, Summer Intern
This past week, I had the opportunity to learn more about the community in which I will be serving in. For the first time, Flemingdon Park will be running Sonshine Day Camp. As a result, our team has been trying to connect with the community to inform them about this camp.
We went on a prayer walk, we knocked on every door of the neighbourhood, we posted posters, and we visited the local library and community centre. In just less than a week, I was able to see the living conditions, hear the different responses of the community members, and smell the rich spices used in the cooking of Flemingdon Park. I felt like I was in a different city because of what I experienced, and realized that my work is like doing local missions.
While experiencing Flemingdon Park through some of my senses, God reminded me of how each household has a story. Each child that will be coming to camp is special and has a unique story to tell. I hope that God will open my heart to hear and learn more about the stories the children will share.
Just as I hope to learn more about their stories, I am excited, mixed with a bit of nervousness, to share the Greatest Story ever told, the Gospel.
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Romans 1:16
This story is one to be told and shared with courage and eagerness. Looking forward to a wonder-filled summer!
Nadia is a summer intern at Flemingdon Park. She has been on global and local missions and is excited for this summer as it is like doing local missions.
