Transition and Growth
By HaEun, Outreach Worker in Flemingdon Park
It’s been about a month since I began my position as staff at Flemingdon Park. Prior to Flemingdon Park, I had been working with TCM in the Kingston-Galloway community. I knew that every site TCM operates in has its own culture and dynamics, but seeing these differences first-hand reminded me again of how diverse the communities in our city can be. I was unsure of what to expect with new kids, working with new staff, in a new neighbourhood! It’s been a month of transitions for me — adjusting to new people, new environments, and new responsibilities. God has provided the necessary guidance and support I need in order for me to grow into my role at Flemingdon Park (for which I am very grateful). But as much as this month has been a time of transitions for me, it’s been the same for the kids. They are adjusting to a new school year with new teachers, new friends, and now new staff at their after-school programs! We are all adapting to different changes in our respective lives. As the kids and I both transition into a new year of programs, it’s my hope that we would learn more about one another, build meaningful relationships, and ultimately grow together as a community.
