TCM Devotions: The Spirit of Gentleness

Verse: Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Devotion:
How are we suppose to react to aggravating situations that we face in life? How do we actually react in those situations. The answers often do not line up with each other.

Using Jesus as an example, we should always treat others with gentleness (Matthew 11:29). You  may categorize kindness and gentleness as the same thing but they differ slightly. While kindness is more of a way of acting, gentleness brings up more of an idea of a state of spiritual being. While one acts in kindness, one is of gentle spirit.

The Bible teaches us to be "a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger"Proverbs 15:1, to "be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love" (Ephesians 4:2) , and to "let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near" (Philippians 4:5). Our instructions from God are very clear. Be gentle, not harsh. Speak words of love, not hate.

Thought:
How have you been reacting to aggravating situations this past year? How will you respond to God in act of obedience regarding the matter of gentleness?
