Blessed to be a Blessing

Reflections by: Arielle Marcella | Summer Camp Intern, Flemingdon Park

Each day at Flemingdon Park has been a journey, starting from 12 campers to now having almost 30 has been a blessing. It is only with God's grace that we are able to have this many campers attend, and we are overjoyed to welcome them into His Kingdom and share God's love with them. I have been able to experience God through the little things such as providing us with sunshine regardless of the predicted forecast of rain. The quiet and peaceful mornings during my commute to Flemingdon Park has granted me time to start my day with a renewed heart and mind, connecting with God and focusing on His Word.

My small group consists of 5 campers (ranging from ages 5-7) and although they are still learning to read and write, it is evident just how much these children love God and understand the Bible lessons. During Bible and small group time, we have learned about so many new things; from trusting in God, learning about sin, the importance of forgiveness and understanding God’s promises. As we have been learning about the life of David, it has opened my eyes to see that some of the children are not familiar with these stories, whereas the basic Bible stories were implemented in Sunday School ever since I was a child. It has showed me that being able to grow up in a Christian household and attend church consistently is already a privilege of its own, however, I am so grateful that I have been chosen by God to have this opportunity to share these Bible stories with the children at the camp!

I am beyond blessed to have the support of my family, friends, and church, who have constantly been checking up with me to ask how they can continue to support myself, the team, TCM and Sonshine Day Camp throughout the rest of the summer. It has brought me so much joy to know that there are people that are looking out for me and want to stay connected to the mission work we are doing in Flemingdon Park. I have been so encouraged to tell them the amazing stories of God’s work in Flemingdon Park and how their prayers and support have helped Flemingdon Park as well as TCM as a whole. I am overflowed with the passion and love working with the children at Sonshine Day Camp and I look forward to potentially coming back for round 2 next summer!
