Jessica's Testimony (Flemingdon Park)
Jessica is a Youth in the Flemingdon Park Community who has been attending programs since she was either 6 or 7 years old. At some point, she had left programs but came back at the age of 11.Since she’s been back, she is loving every part of programs, especially the activities, the staff and playing games with her friends. For Jessica, while she may not know much about God, she does know that prayer works. While her grandmother was sick in the hospital, Jessica would pray really hard, because she was scared of losing her grandmother and she’s happy her grandma is still here. Her grandmother is a very important and influential person in her life. Everytime she went to visit her father on the weekends, her grandmother would take her to church every Sunday. It’s something that she loves doing.
While online programming and school is a struggle for Jessica, she is starting to engage more with her friends and staff during Youth Extreme. She’s also been willing to ask for help with subjects that she has difficulties with in school, through the tutoring program (EPIC). She’s willing to open up and share more with the group, share about her day, the things she’s up too and what she’s planning to bake next. As the Outreach Workers at Flemingdon Park continue to grow their relationship with Jessica, we hope that she will grow in her curiosity in God and continue to break out of her shell.
